biography
Jane Hibbert’s work is shaped by a quiet attention to the natural world — to time, weather, material and the subtle forces that shape both landscape and body. Working across sculpture and painting, she is drawn to moments of transition: erosion, movement, stillness, and the spaces in between.
Her sculptures emerge through an intuitive dialogue with material. Stone, bronze and clay are not imposed upon but listened to, allowing form to unfold slowly. Openings, inner spaces and softened surfaces invite touch and contemplation, suggesting shelter, passage and the traces left by time.
In her oil paintings, Jane explores landscape through atmosphere rather than place. Weather becomes the subject — shifting skies, gathering clouds, moments of calm or tension — carrying emotional weight as much as visual presence. Paint is layered, reworked and softened, echoing the gradual processes of nature itself.
Across all her work, Jane seeks to create a sense of quiet connection — forms and surfaces that ask the viewer to pause, look more slowly, and feel their way into the work.
